About

Dr. Kales is a Professor of Psychiatry and past Director of the Section of Geriatric Psychiatry at the University of Michigan (2009-2014).  She is the founding Director of the Program for Positive Aging.  As a board-certified geriatric psychiatrist, her research program is directly informed by her clinical work and experiences with patients, families, providers and systems to diminish the barriers to effective and high quality care for older patients with mental and cognitive health issues. She lives in Ann Arbor, Michigan with her husband, three children, and two rambunctious dogs (in addition to her two positively aging parents nearby).
